O Australian Bush Flower Essences foi criado por Ian White, que combinou a psicologia com as terapias naturais. Ingressou na New South Wales College of Natural Therapies, onde se diplomou em naturopatia. Ian White cresceu nos matos australianos, a noroeste de Sidney, em Terrey Hills, acompanhando sua avó na colheita de ervas medicinais. Ela conhecia profundamente as plantas e as flores e as mostrava para Ian, explicando-lhe suas diversas propriedades. Era uma herborista, assim como a tataravó de Ian, exercendo essa prática na Nova Zelândia. Seu pai foi um farmacêutico, embora prescrevesse e usasse muitas ervas medicinais.
